Directors’ Corner

Camp continues to inspire and challenge us to think about the pure and simple value of having fun and sharing community in a context of non-judgmental support and commitment to celebrating differences. Camp is truly it's own world, and the welcoming culture of Menesetung comes from the passion of the Staff and Volunteers, who wholly dedicate themselves each summer to the pursuit of being positive role models, and placing a high priority on valueing who their campers are and hope to be.

Spring/Summer Director

Joanna McMurchy | RN, BScN, CMHPN(C)

Joanna started her journey at Camp Menesetung in 2018 as the Health Care Provider while she was completing her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Trent University. After graduating the following year, Joanna returned to camp spending time both as the Camp Nurse and working as a cabin counsellor and programmer. Throughout the years, Joanna has volunteered both on site during the summer and with the Board of Directors in the off season.

Although she wishes camp could be her only source of income, Joanna has spent the last 5 years working as a nurse, most recently at SickKids on their Psychiatry and Eating Disorder unit, as well as a member of the Acute Care Psychiatry Team. Joanna is passionate about mental health care in youth and recognizes how vital the camp environment can be to bettering oneself physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Joanna is so excited to take on this new (to her) role at Menesetung and can’t wait to be on site with campers this summer!
